Have you ever thought to yourself, “How can I make the greatest impact for my family and the community”?
We covered just that in our most recent Family Philanthropy Series: Making Lasting Change While Meeting Urgent Needs. We heard from experts Luther Ranheim, Gift Planner at the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation and Greater Twin Cities United Way’s very own Julie Ogunleye, Director of 211 Resource Helpline and 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, who shared how community members like you can make lasting change for future generations, while also helping meet urgent needs in the greater Twin Cities through a charitable gift annuity.
211 and 988 are free and confidential 24/7 services that help to meet urgent needs in the community. They provide listening and support, information and referrals and crisis intervention in the areas of housing, utilities, food, childcare, mental health, transportation and more.
A charitable gift annuity is a gift to charity that pays you income for life. There are many benefits of a charitable gift annuity, including its simple and low barrier to entry, a steady stream of income, immediate tax benefit and more. A common misconception is that you can only give cash, but that isn’t the case. One can also give stock, IRA assets, real estate, farmland, livestock, equipment, etc.

It’s our goal to provide valuable learning opportunities to our donors and our community, including through Family Philanthropy Series virtual learning sessions. See the full Family Philanthropy Series playlist.
