Bremer Bank Leads the Way

Since 1943, Bremer Bank has honored the vision of its founder, Otto Bremer, by investing in the people and communities it serves. The company gives back through leadership, service, volunteerism and philanthropic generosity in the areas of affordable housing, financial education and economic empowerment.

In response to employees actively looking for ways to help their communities during this difficult time, Bremer Bank recently announced a partnership with United Way establishing a special giving campaign to support COVID-19 response and recovery efforts.

As a part of this campaign, every dollar a Bremer employee donates to their local United Way – including the Greater Twin Cities COVID-19 Response & Recovery Fund – will be matched by Bremer. Together, Bremer and its employees are working to provide $100,000 in critical funding to local United Ways who are meeting the urgent needs of their communities.

100% of all donations to the Greater Twin Cities COVID-19 Response & Recovery Fund go directly into the community and provide immediate support to those most vulnerable to the pandemic’s effects.

“It was inspiring to watch Greater Twin Cities United Way so quickly develop the COVID-19 Response & Recovery Fund and provide Bremer the opportunity to aid other United Way chapters across the region by providing emergency support to those most vulnerable to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Lauren Beecham Henry, VP of Community Marketing at Bremer. “Our employees have been grateful for the opportunity to give back knowing United Way will help direct the funds to those with the greatest need.”

In addition to the COVID-19 efforts, Bremer’s commitment to the community extends in many other directions. The company has been a longtime trusted partner- from their generous giving to sponsorship of major United Way events like Action Day to the creation of their own signature volunteer events. Last year, the company hosted Bremer Backpacks, an event where over 5,000 backpacks were assembled for kids in need, in honor of the company’s 75th anniversary.

Bremer’s spirit of innovation was also extremely evident when they became one of the first companies to adopt and implement Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud, a giving and volunteering platform launched by United Way in 2018.

Year-round, Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud has allowed Bremer employees to personalize their gifts, support causes important to them, and engage in volunteering. Through the platform, Bremer was able to connect the company’s 1,800 employees across the network with the One Bremer United Way campaign they ran in 2019.

“For the first time, all our branches were able to use the same digital platform to make their gift,” said Henry. “We were able to understand in real-time what our impact was, communicate our goals and exceed our milestones, all while generating excitement and enthusiasm along the way!”
